Just Knowing Does Not Make Us Happy

--

I woke up full of energy. Took a hot bath. Had a Yummy Lunch. Dressed handsome. And. Left for University.

When I stepped out of my house, the whole street was filled with smog. So I changed my mind and skipped university.

I had a phone conversation with my best friend about what is his status and as I said best friend he did too skip the university. Then we talk about other stuff.

During our conversation, we both realized that our focus was more on personal growth and extracurricular than on our academics. That is why we scored a little low in our midterms.

After that, I started the 1-hour long course from LinkedIn Learning on “Leading with Emotional Intelligence” by Dr. Britt Andreatta. My favorite segments from the course were;

  • Getting to know yourself
  • Understanding and Managing the triggers
  • Understanding the humans at work

LinkedIn made this course free for me for 24 hours but the catch was I had to buy its membership to get the certificate. (But I didn’t)

Afterward, I made notes of the Nanotechnology course lecture 01. It was a lengthy note-taking session so I took multiple breaks to keep myself energized and interested in the study. During the breaks, I published my blog (yesterday).

I am not writing about what other stuff I did like lunch and household work as it is unrelated to this blog.

When I am done with my note-taking. I took a small break and started the most awaited course, “The Science of Well-Being” by Yale University from Coursera. Its first module was introductory so I completed it.

I would like to share some of the amazing learnings I had from this module.

G.I. Joe Fallacy

Knowing is half the battle.

The course instructor Prof Dr. Laurie Santos expanded on this fallacy that the mistaken idea is that “knowing” is enough to change the behavior. Merely knowing it does not make it better. If we want to change our behaviors, we have to change our habits. We cannot just learn to be happy.

I didn’t notice that it was 12:05 AM and I have classes from 8 AM onwards tomorrow.

Thanks for reading.

From the next blog, I am thinking of taking pictures of the moments. I guess it will be interesting.
